Enterprise bottle opener
...where no bottle opener has gone before.
Wow, crappy low-light iPhone picture, but it says "USS Enterprise NCC-1701" just like the real thing!

All You Need Is Love

It's true that people with wildly different (and sometimes supposedly incompatible) backgrounds can learn to live together. But what about animals, especially those that are supposed to be mortal enemies? You might be surprised and pleased to learn that animal can transcend those roles. Check out the results at interspecies friends.

Friday Game

Not only does this basketball game rely on eye-mouse coordination (to set up the shot) and physics (in the toss and bounces), but you play online against other people, and get to see how you stack up on each shot. I embrace my suckiness, so that didn't bother me (I found it interesting), but it may spur on your competitive side with the simply-named Basketball.

One of the best IM lines ever typed:

Plumbing Your Sidewalk

Sidewalk message
I'm not sure if the plumber also does concrete, or if the concrete guy also does plumbing, but this message was seen on a patched sidewalk in the International District.

Comic Worship

Wow, where to begin.

Ok, I like comic books and superheroes. I've read a lot of comic books over the years and played superheroes in computer games. But I've never questioned characters' religious affiliations in either media.

It turns out that people meticuously determine such things. You can find this out not at one site, but two:

Fiber Tiles

Hexa grains
Hexa Grains, the breakfast cereal of boardgamers! (Old war games like the Avalon Hill series always had hexagonal spaces and game tiles. That's what I thought of when I saw this.)

In the Nick of Time

Love him or hate him, Nicolas Cage sure makes a lot of movies. So many, in fact, you might think he's pretty much everywhere. Or everyone. But what if he was? Riffing off the idea is the theme behind Nic Cage as Everyone.

Friday Game

A combination of physics and timing, along with upgradeable ammunition, will have you hurling projectiles from your trebuchet as you try to Crush the Castle.

Hint: Keep trying. Sometimes I'd go 20 or 30 shots and not knock everything down, then after several reloads, get it in one or two.

Who Let the Sun Out?

Space Needle and blue sky
Holy crap, a sunny day in January? This global climate change thing is crazy!

Snapped (as usual) on my iPhone, after we emerged, blinking at the brightness, from seeing Avatar at the Pacific Science Center IMAX.

I have a blog?! WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME?!?!"

Oh, that Urn!

Duct Tape Formalities

People use duct tape for a lot of things, from actual repairs to making wallets and belts. There's a small but growing trend, however, of making actual prom formals, both tuxes and dresses, out of duct tape. And you might be surprised at how well some of them turn out. They're not all gray or silver (as I first expected). Make sure you check out the gallery at Stuck at Prom.

All companies have to have official correspondence, and to do so, they need their own letterhead. We're all familiar with our own office letterhead, but not so much with famous companies (or individuals). Check them out at Letterheady.
