Dental Unpractice

Going to the dentist is a necessary evil we all endure. But how did you choose your dentist in the first place? The reason I ask is, I have to find a new one.

I got a letter yesterday that basically says my dentist is quitting his practice. In the words of Kyle's mom, "WhatwhatWHAT?" How do you decide to up and pull the plug and hang up your drill? I don't get it.

So now I have the unenviable task of tracking down a new dentist and getting all my records transferred. Then the inevitable first checkup with strangers poking around in my mouth. And what if they don't give out the same kind of toothbrush to which I've become accustomed?

Thanks, doc. This whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I just went to my insurance web site and found the one nearest to my home. He turned out pretty good!

I had the same dentist since I was a kid - he was my dad's friend. I really liked him. He retired last year and turned his practice over to another dentist, Dr. Lyndon Lambeth on Bel-Red in Bellevue. I am now going to Dr. Lambeth and he seems fine. I guess I trust him because my old dentist trusted him enough to sell his practice to him. Really, it's all about the dental hygienist though. They are the ones that do most of the routine work.
