Super Viewing

So this past Sunday's Super Bowl was the most watched one in NFL history, and the second-most watched television event in America, which was the series finale of M*A*S*H (link).

But what does that mean? Looking up figures for now and 1983, and then doing a little basic math, around 32% of the US population watched this year's Super Bowl. The M*A*S*H finale? A whopping 45%.

I wonder if anybody watched M*A*S*H for the commercials?

I remember that MASH finale--I'd been with those characters for so long, I wanted to follow them home. The Super Bowl? Um, not so much.
