- Ok, this is freakin' amazing. It's a chart of the movie box-office receipts for the last 20 years. Scroll to the right and left, and hold the cursor over a "blob" to see the movie title and approximately how long it was popular in theaters. You can definitely see the summer blockbusters and end-of-year holiday releases dominate the industry. It's also interesting to see that some movies bloom and die quickly, while others enjoy a longer, if smaller, run.
